FAQ
Does it fit US outlets (110V)?
Standard unit is 220V (international lab standard). We can source a 110V variant on request — email us before ordering if you need US-outlet plug-and-play. Or use a step-up transformer (110V→220V) — inexpensive and safe.
How does temperature control work?
Analog dial control (not PID digital). Set the dial, plate heats to steady-state at the equivalent power level. For labs requiring precise temperature (±1°C), invest in digital PID-controlled stirrers (IKA / Corning premium tier). For general lab prep (buffer dissolve, agar melt), analog control is fully adequate.
Can I stir viscous liquids?
Yes for moderate viscosity (buffers, agar, dilute glycerol). NO for high viscosity (concentrated glycerol, polymers, gels) — magnetic coupling can't drive the stir bar through high viscosity. Use overhead mechanical stirrer for those cases.
Stir bar sizing?
Included stir bar suits ~500mL-1L containers. For 2 L containers, purchase larger 40mm-60mm bar separately. For small containers (50-250 mL), use 15-25mm bars. Match bar size to container diameter (bar should be ~1/2 container diameter).
