Boerner-type brass seed / grain divider for representative sample splitting per ISTA + AOSA + USDA seed testing standards. Reduces a grain/seed sample into two exactly-representative halves using gravity flow through a 32-stream cone splitting mechanism. Rust-proof brass + copper material-flow components (smooth finish, no welded joints). Steel legs + support. Calibrated to 1% accuracy between pans on a 1000g sample. Size 12"×12"×33". Standard ($830) or Premium ($980) variant. For seed testing labs, agricultural QC, plant breeding programs, and grain trade.
How it works
- Grain/seed sample poured into top hopper
- Sample released down into cone directly under hopper center
- Around cone base: 32 openings/pockets alternately routed to two output streams
- Grain falls down cone sides, splits into 32 separate streams
- 32 streams rejoin into 2 output streams (each with 16 pockets = statistically representative)
- Two output pans collect the split sample — each an accurate 50% representation of original
Variant selection
| Variant | Difference | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Base brass + copper construction, standard finish | $830 |
| Premium | Higher-grade polish, tighter tolerance QC, extended warranty | $980 |
Applications
- Seed testing labs (ISTA / AOSA accredited) — germination, purity, moisture testing sample prep
- Plant breeding + variety trials — representative sub-samples from breeding populations
- Grain elevators + trading — receipt inspection sample splitting
- USDA + state agricultural QC — commodity grain grade assessment
- Feed mills — raw material quality assessment
- Food safety + mycotoxin testing — representative sub-sampling before analysis
- University plant + agronomy programs — teaching + research
- International grain trade — export/import inspection sampling
- Coffee + cocoa trade — bean sample splitting for grading

- Volume pricing on 3+ orders — multi-facility seed lab + grain elevator procurement
- Net-30 invoicing for verified seed labs, universities, USDA / state ag departments
- SAM.gov / GSA compliant for USDA + APHIS + state agriculture
- Bundle with Boerner sample bags, sample pans, cleaning brushes for complete sampling kit
- International DDP shipping — huge seed trade + agricultural markets in India, LATAM, Africa
FAQ
What's the sample size limit?
Optimum 500-2,000g per split (1% accuracy at 1,000g). Smaller samples (100-500g) will still split but statistical representativeness degrades. Larger samples (2,000-5,000g) may overwhelm cone flow — split in stages.
Which is better — Standard or Premium?
For ISTA/AOSA accredited seed labs where 3rd-party calibration audits happen annually, Premium is worth the +$150 for tighter tolerance. For internal grain trading + feed mill use where relative accuracy matters more than absolute traceability, Standard is fine.
Rust concerns?
Brass + copper material flow components are inherently rust-proof — critical for high-humidity storage in seed labs. Steel legs + supports are exterior-only (not sample-contact) and powder-coated for corrosion resistance.
Compatible with commercial dust extraction?
Yes — attach flexible ducting to output pan area for dust management with allergenic seeds (mustard, sesame, etc.) or fine-dust grains.
