Pessary Sizing Protocol

Fitting Technique

  1. Apply water-based lubricant to the pessary and vaginal introitus
  2. Fold the pessary in half lengthwise
  3. Insert with the leading edge directed posteriorly toward the sacrum
  4. Advance until the pessary is above the pubic symphysis
  5. Allow the ring to unfold and assess position
  6. Check that one finger can be passed between the pessary and vaginal wall
  7. Ask the patient to stand, walk, and perform a Valsalva manoeuvre
